SG Moosburg – verdiente Sieger und hervorragende Gastgeber

In einem guten Spiel unter perfekten Bedingungen erzielte SG Moosburg am Ende seines Innings Runs, zeigte einige hervorragende Catches und räumte die letzten Schlagmänner ab, um das 25-Over-Spiel schließlich mit einem komfortablen Vorsprung von 51 Runs zu gewinnen.

SG Moosburgs Kapitän Kartheek gewann den Münzwurf und entschied sich bei strahlend blauem Himmel dafür, zuerst zu schlagen. Der Kontrast zu den Ereignissen in Nepal und Tibet war für alle spürbar, als beide Mannschaften eine zweiminütige Schweigeminute einlegten, um einer Tragödie zu gedenken, die einigen Spielern persönlich naheging.

SG Moosburg legte einen guten Start hin und erzielte innerhalb von 7,3 Overs 47 Runs für das erste Wicket. Die Pilgrims kämpften sich dann zurück und brachten SG Moosburg nach 13,5 Overs auf 70 für 7 – dank großartigerBowling- und Feldleistungen von Keshav (2 Catches, 2 Wickets), Saradhi (3 Wickets) und Satya (1 Wicket) sowie Gastspieler Vipin (3 Wickets). Ein besonderes Highlight war Jörgs Wicket mit seinem ersten Ball, das durch einen hervorragenden akrobatischen Fang von Ankit im tiefen Feld erzielt wurde. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt dachten die Pilgrims, sie könnten früh in die Mittagspause gehen, hatten jedoch nicht mit starken Schlagmännern am Ende gerechnet, die SG Moosburg auf 147 all out brachten – knapp vor Ablauf der zugeteilten 25 Overs. Jaspreet S. (30), Zeeshan (25) und Joseph (29) leisteten alle wichtige Beiträge mit dem Schläger.

Auch die Pilgrims legten einen guten Start hin: Murali (18) und Cam (23) erzielten gemeinsam 31 Runs in 5,3 Overs für das erste Wicket. Beide schieden durch sehr gute Catches aus, doch besondere Erwähnung verdient Abhilash, der am Point einen Ball nach einem fiesen Square Cut mit einematemberaubenden Hechtsprung abfing und damit Murali ausschaltete. Die Pilgrims hielten zwar weiterhin mit der Run-Rate Schritt, verloren aber auch Wickets, hofften jedoch weiterhin auf einen Sieg, solange der Top-Scorer Oscar (29) noch an der Crease stand. Nachdem Oscar mit einigen prächtigen, hoch geschwungenen Cover-Drives die Hoffnungen der Pilgrims geweckt hatte, verlor er sein Wicket nach 16 Overs bei einem Stand von 88 für 6, und damit versandete die Aufholjagd. Moritz stützte ein Ende 20 Bällelang ab, um für Stabilität zu sorgen, doch letztendlich erreichte niemand nach den ersten drei Spielern eine zweistellige Run-Zahl. Es ist unklar, ob die 1-Liter-Krüge Erdinger oder die Müdigkeit vom stundenlangen Tanzen am Vorabend die Ausdauer der Pilgrims beeinträchtigten, doch sie wurden schließlich nach 22,2 Overs für 96 Runs ausgebowlt.

Neben gutem, straffem Bowling und den bereits erwähnten Catches machte die Gesamtleistung von SG Moosburg im Feld den Unterschied aus. Siruthondan wurde für seine 11 Runs und seine hervorragenden Bowling-Werte von 2 Overs, 3 Wickets für 4 Runs – darunter das entscheidende Over, das das Spiel wendete (2 starke Wickets für 3 Runs) – als Spieler des Spiels mit einer Pilgrims-Mütze ausgezeichnet.

Beide Mannschaftskapitäne, Kartheek und Matthew, sowie alle Spieler sorgten für eine wunderbare Atmosphäre und trugen das Spiel mit großartigem Sportsgeist aus. SG Moosburg war wieder einmal ein phantastischer Gastgeber und sorgte zudem für ein sehr leckeres Mittagessen. Wir hoffen natürlich, nächstes Jahr wieder zu Besuch zu kommen.

SG Moosburg — deserved winners and excellent hosts

In a good match played in perfect conditions, SG Moosburg produced late-innings runs, took some excellent catches and mopped up the tail to eventually win the 25-over game by a comfortable margin of 51 runs.

SG Moosburg captain Kartheek won the toss and elected to bat in clear blue skies. The contrast with scenes from Nepal and Tibet was felt by all as a 2-minutes silence was observed by both teams, acknowledging a tragedy close to home for some of the players. 

SG Moosburg got off to good start putting on 47 for the first wicket inside 7.3 overs. The Pilgrims then fought back to have SG Moosburg on 70 for 7 after 13.5 overs thanks to some outstanding bowling and fielding from Keshav (2 catches, 2 wickets), Saradhi (3 wickets) and Satya (1 wicket) as well as guest player Vipin (3 wickets). A particular highlight was Joerg’s wicket with his first ball through an excellent acrobatic catch by Ankit in the deep. At this point, Pilgrims thought they were on for an early lunch but did not reckon with the tail wagging to take SG Moosburg up to 147 all out just shy of their allotted 25 overs. Jaspreet (30), Zeeshan (25) and Joseph (29) all made important contributions with the bat.

The Pilgrims also got off to a good start with Murali (18) and Cam (23) putting on 31 in 5.3 overs for the first wicket. Both fell to very good catches, but a special mention to Abhilash who took an amazing one-handed diving catch at point off a vicious square cut to remove Murali. The Pilgrims continued to keep up with the run rate, but also lose wickets although still hoped to win whilst top-scorer Oscar (29) was at the crease. After raising the Pilgrims’ hopes with some sumptuous lofted cover drives, Oscar lost his wicket after 16 overs with the score on 88 for 6 and with this the run chase petered out.Moritz shored up an end for 20 balls to try and provide stability but in the end no one outside of the top three got into double figures. It is not clear if the 1-litre jugs of Erdinger or fatigue from dancing for hours the previous evening had an effect on the Pilgrims’ stamina but they were eventually bowled out for 96 after 22.2 overs.

As well as good, tight bowling and the aforementioned catches, the overall performance in the field from SG Moosburg made a difference. Siruthondan was awarded a Pilgrims cap as player of the match for his 11 runs and excellent bowling figures of 2 overs, 3 wickets for 4 runs,including the crucial over that turned the match around (2 strong wickets for 3 runs).

Both captains, Kartheek and Matthew, as well as all players created an wonderful atmosphere and played the game in great spirit. SG Moosburg were once again fantastic hosts, also providing very tasty lunchtime food. We of course hope to visit again next year.
